Macro photography is a special place for me. It is sacred and each photo feels like a prayer. By taking a macro photograph I feel like I am sharing a secret - a holy secret. Here are a few of my offerings.
Walking along a quiet beach in Southeast Alaska I happened upon a small, crater-like organism (acorn or thatch barnacle) attached to the edge of the blue mussel shell.
We were exploring a rustic section of tidal pools again in Southeastern Alaska and I saw this painted sea anemone. While the water surrounds them they look happy and flower like. But when the tides go out they appear to suffer, hanging sadly waiting until the tide comes back in again.
A formidable, spine-covered stem of Devil's club (Oplopanax horridus), a large deciduous shrub native to the moist understory forests of western North America. This image was taken while hiking in South Eastern Alaska.
While exploring Juneau, Alaska we came upon some lovely Pussy willow catkins (Salix species). The rain was coming down hard but still I managed to capture this lovely shot.
